Inter-Varsity Summer Camp Contest for Canadians

Camping is one of the first things on my mind when summer rolls around, but my idea of camping doesn’t quite match what my kids are thinking when the subject comes up. All I want to do is relax while enjoying the outdoors, sit around a bonfire, lay on the beach, and just listen to the sounds of nature but my kids want to go-go-go!

My kids had their first summer camp experience in 2010 when they got to join the summer camp program offered by one of our local church groups, and they’ve gone to the same camp ever since. I’m thankful for this because I wouldn’t be able to afford to send them otherwise but this year I’ve been looking at some other options.

Inter-Varsity Summer Camps Kayaking

Inter-Varsity Summer Camps Horseback Riding

Inter-Varsity Summer Camps are Christian summer camps for kids ages 5 to 17 and have locations in Ontario, Manitoba, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia. Each summer camp offers unique programs for children and youth as well as speciality programs in leadership development, water adventures, and horsemanship. They have dozens of fun and exciting activities like sailing, swimming, horseback riding, rock climbing, as well as a daily schedule purposefully designed to provide your child with new skills, opportunities, and experiences.

This certainly sounds like something my children would enjoy!

  1. Oh fun! Some of my favourite memories from childhood were of summer camp. Zackary might just be old enough to go this year; I’ll have to look into it for him!

When my boys went for their first time they were 9 & 10, but my daughter went for her first camp when she was 7 1/2. I don’t think any of them would have gone at 5 even if I wanted them to!

I think camp is a vital part of a child’s growth. To be on their own, make new friends, find and discover their strengths and weaknesses. It’s a joy to see this being shared. Every child should enjoy this once in their life.

  3. I was never able to do the whole summer camp thing when I was younger. I would have LOVED to be able to, but it just wasn’t in the cards for us. I really do think if kids get the opportunity to go, they SHOULD, if only once for the experience!

Too bad I’m 23 and don’t live in Canada because I’d TOTALLY enter that contest ^.^

I didn’t have the chance to go to a summer camp like this one, but we did go camping as a family and my Dad had a cabin so I did get to spend a lot of time outdoors. I joined a camping retreat with my school a few times too which was great but not quite the same.

I never did Summer Camp. I sure wish I had though and want my kids to experience it.

I am NOT an outdoors person. I never went to camp growing up (as much as my parents wanted me to) I was a home-body and was too nervous to be away for long.

Looks like a lot of fun! I’ve never been on a summer camp adventure but my family did a lot of camping together growing up. It’s something that we plan on doing with my son when he’s a little older.

  16. I just found your blog through Angie’s Canadian blog link-up. I hadn’t heard of this giveaway, but I know lots about IVCF summer camps. My mother went to Ontario Pioneer, I went to Ontario Pioneer for one year, Pioneer Ranch for two years , and Manitoba for several years, and all three of our kids have gone to Manitoba Pioneer both as campers and staff. They are excellent camps and such a wonderful way to spend the summer. I’m so glad my children got to experience the fun of Pioneer camp.

My first camp was when I was pregnant with my oldest. I chaperoned and had a blast. My favorite part was the extra large slip in slide. I spent the day camped out at the top with the water hose.
